We had one of those weeks last week. The kind where Ragamuffin reverted back to the sleeping status of a new born. Where snotty noses, coughs and temperatures only appeared during the dark of night.
On the nights where I didn’t have work the following morning, the mothering of a sick kidlet was easy. I sat in his rocking chairs and dozed when I could with him snug in my arms. On the nights where work would follow when the sun came up, Hubby and I struggled through the night, bumping into walls, with eyes wide shut, trying to console him before he could inevitably wake Princess. Sometimes we made it in time, others we didn’t. Sleeping with four in a queen bed just doesn’t cut it when you have to work with twenty-four tweens the following day!!
And you know what, it totally worked! The distant sound of crashing waves, the sea air, and playing in the great outdoors, sent us all into deep sleeps for the two nights we were there. Sometimes packing up and running away is the best option.
